Where Boaters
Become Captains

Welcome to Explorer’s Guide Maritime Training

We are dedicated to providing a sound learning experience for all our students. Learning is more than reading a book or listening to a lecture. It is being actively involved in the learning process. This can only be done when the instructors apply the discuss-demonstrate-do approach. Students also learn in different ways.  To meet everyone's needs we use auditory, visual, and kenistetic activities. In other words, students listen, see, and do the activities to provide the best learning experience. Calls from former students are always welcomed.

Meet the staff and instructors

Captain Gary is our lead instructor and course developer. He comes to us with extensive training, education, and state and federal agencies relationship experience. This includes working with both state and federal agencies to develop training programs, assistance in planning and presenting at national seminars. He was awarded a Bronze Metal by USEPA for his service in developing a CBT based-interactive training program.

Growing up with Lake Winnebago system in your back yard was a real plus. There were plenty of opportunities to work and fish on the systems lakes and river. He later did extensive trout and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan during the "gold days". The last twenty years it's been the northern lakes of Wisconsin and sailing on Green Bay. He holds a teaching license from the State of Wisconsin for the maritime courses.
